Situated precisely between the Equator and
the North Pole, Gaylord sits high on the 45th parallel. The geographic location
of our town plays largely into its charm and ability to attract visitors as
well as permanent residents. Not only is Gaylord located on the 45th parallel
but it is also the highest point between the East and West sides of Michigan.
Being perched at this high elevation allows Gaylord to become a winter
wonderland as the lake effect snow finds its way to our hills and valleys
turning our quaint village into a resort hot spot. Subsequently the summer
months bring beautiful temperate weather that lends itself perfectly to
golfing. Gaylord is also located amongst something we in Northern Michigan like
to call the Golf Mecca. Lastly, when in Gaylord, you are never more than a few
miles from a magnificent lake. Natural beauty swells and surpasses the
expectations of every visitor and is likely what encourages people to call
Gaylord their home.

Take a look at Gaylord through Alpine
colored glasses. Sister city to Pontresina, Switzerland, we maintain an
authentic outlook on life in an Alpine Village. Modeling our downtown after a
Swiss Village is only the beginning. Summertime in Gaylord brings a plethora of
festivals, namely Alpenfest. Alpenfest is a week long celebration that includes
music, competition, fun, friends and shopping. It is also a chance to celebrate
the heritage of our town. Walking through the streets of downtown Gaylord
during Alpenfest only solidifies the feeling of being home whether you are a
permanent resident or a guest in the Alpine Village.
